FILM The Patience Stone at Whistling Woods Andheri Base
Alliance Francaise de Bombay will show French-Afghani writer and director Atiq Rahimi’s 2013 film The Patience Stone (Syngue Sabour: Pierre de Patience). Set in Afghanistan, the movie, which is based on Rahimi’s novel of the same name, is about a young woman who has to care for her older husband, reduced to a vegetative state by a bullet in the neck. One day she decides to confide her feelings about their marriage and her life to him. The film, which in is Dari, will be screened with English subtitles. There is no entry fee.

PHOTOGRAPHY The Deepak Puri Collection: Legacy of Photojournalism at Tarq
This exhibition, put together by Bangalore gallery Tasveer and the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), an institution being built in that city, comprises 50 images by 30 photographers. The works have been selected from The Deepak Puri Collection: Legacy of Photojournalism, a set of over 150 images donated to MAP by Puri, the former photo editor of Time-Life News Service’s south Asia bureau. The photos on display include those by such major lensmen as Raghu Rai and Prashant Panjiar from India, Sebastião Salgado from Brazil and James Nachtwey from the US. See here for a preview.
