For the fourteenth episode of The Adventures of Cheap Beer, podcasters Karan Agarwal, Siddhant Mehta and Suyash Barve check out Garden Jolly in Fort along with their friend, lawyer Rohan Wagh. Located in the compound of a cluster of buildings in Fort, Garden Jolly takes a bit of searching to find. And it’s not the most female-friendly place. But it’s worth visiting for excellent seafood and the alcohol, which is cheaper than at most dives in the city. Mehta tells us what to expect:

“My friend Rohan Wagh has recommended Garden Jolly to me many times over the past few weeks and so we thought we’d give it a shot. Wagh sang praises about the bar’s seafood selection and its unusual location within the confines of a courtyard surrounded by some of Fort’s oldest structures. I can confirm that he was absolutely right on both counts. As a favourite among the Bombay High Court’s staff, Garden Jolly is a lively place filled with law-related gossip and fish such as lep and mandeli that aren’t commonly seen on restaurant menus. The seafood was some of the freshest I’ve ever tasted and we had a lot to say about it.”

Garden Jolly Bar and Restaurant, 43 Rajabahadur Compound, M. P. Shetty Marg, near Flora Fountain, Fort. Tel: 022 2265 7419. Open daily, from 11.30am to 11.30pm. Get directions here.
