
Kitchen Garden.
• The folks behind Suzette launched Kitchen Garden, an organic salad and sandwich bar in Bandra West on Tuesday, October 11. The health food joint uses ingredients such as amla, spirulina, quinoa and kale and serves coffee by Blue Tokai. The menu offers cold-pressed juices such as Pink Cooler (watermelon and ginger) and Green Detox (baby spinach, pineapple, lime, mint and amla), salads such as chicken and avocado Caesar; falafel bowl; soba noodle salad, sandwiches such as red hummus and falafel; and chicken and basil with feta and desserts such as nuts and mango yoghurt; berry and granola yoghurt; and chocolate an walnut cookie. The breakfast options include chocolate granola; eggs, mushroom and cheese brioche; sourdough bread and jam; and eggs and avocado. Open daily, from 9am to 11pm. • Umraan, a quick service Indian restaurant, opened in Bandra West last week. The menu lists smoked paneer tikka; ghobi croquettes; matar and soya tikkis; chicken tikka mince; chicken pâté bowl with white gravy and herb rice; chicken makhni with butter rice; bhuna chicken dum biryani; gulab jamun with rose praline; and berry rasmalai. • Marol has a travel-themed restaurant called Bombay To Barcelona Library Cafe that opened in August. They serve sandwiches, rolls, tapas and crepes. Pick from patatas bravas; chicken fingers; poha bhajia; grilled mushroom; Spanish omelette; yoghurt and spinach roll; banana pie; carrot cake; baked yoghurt; and chocolate crepe. • Five months after closing, Sante, the gourmet ingredients store and charcuterie in Bandra West, has been replaced by A Saluti, which is co-owned by dessert caterer Milanda Jagtiani and Sapna Lawyer, a former manager at Fortune Gourmet, a company that retails specialty food products. Like Sante, the store will serve imported cheese including Grana Padano, Swiss Gruyere, Gorgonzola, feta, Edam, Dutch Gouda and Danish blue cheese; cured meats such as mortadella and Parma ham, and seafood. You can also shop for dips, desserts, cereals and frozen foods and have sandwiches customised from their range of cheese and meat. Choose from roasted pepper and walnut dip; and cranberry and black pepper dip; chocolate cupcakes; New York cheesecake; chocolate eclairs; granola with maple yoghurt; and apple and cinnamon loaf cake.
