New Restaurants: The Yard in Kala Ghoda, The Clearing House In Ballard Estate

• Rishad Nathani, a former partner at deGustibus Hospitality, which owns Indigo in Colaba, the Indigo Deli chain, Neel at Tote on the Turf in Mahalaxmi and Neel in Powai, will launch The Clearing House, a restaurant and bar with a “globally-inspired menu” in Ballard Estate on Tuesday, October 25. The 4,000 square feet venue will be divided into two areas: The Foyer or the dining area, which will operate every day from noon to 3pm and from 7pm to 1am, and The Chamber or the lounge, which will be open daily, from 7pm to 1am. The menu will feature mushroom and kimchi corn wrap; quinoa salad with maple roasted pumpkin; red rice risotto with confit root vegetables; and miso-glazed black cod. The Clearing House, Calicut Street, Ballard Estate. • American smokehouse and barbecue joint The Yard opened in Kala Ghoda on Monday, October 17. The menu lists pizza, sandwiches, grilled meats, sliders and risotto. Among the offerings are truffle fries; wild mushroom and goat cheese cigars; zucchini fries; baked potato with smoked cheese; shrimp popcorn; bratwurst; braised ribs; lobster Thermidor; slow-cooked brisket sandwich; house-smoked chicken sandwich; Portobello mushroom and Brie burger; brisket burger; BBQ hot dog; and mac and cheese. Mr. Baozi, the South-East Asian gastropub by the folks behind The Bar Stock Exchange, opened in Kamala Mills on Monday, October 17. Their signature cocktails include banana sour; liquid som tam (vodka, papaya juice, bird’s eye chilli, cherry tomato, coriander, lime and jaggery); and Japanese Hoch Poch (gin, five spice powder, rice vinegar and plum coulis). The food menu features char sui pork bao sandwich; BBQ lentil bao sandwich; black pepper grilled prawns bao sandwich; prawn tempura sushi roll; Sriracha snapper sushi roll; chicken, corn and cheese gyoza; spicy pumpkin and ginger gyoza; pork ribs with honey and black pepper; Japanese sticky wings; khow suey; and chicken pho. Shake Square, a milkshake and vegetarian snacks chain from Delhi, opened in Khar on Wednesday, October 5. Their menu has both classic shakes in flavours such as vanilla, mango, strawberry, blackcurrant and banana as well as those in ‘premium’ flavours like Irish coffee, hazelnut coffee, Kit Kat and Ferrero Rocher. The shakes can be paired with savouries including pizzas, fries, sandwiches, pasta and garlic bread. Open daily, from 10.30am to 1am. • Mulund has a new all-day cafe called The Laughter Chapter Cafe that serves vegetarian nosh such as Tex-Mex fries; cheese garlic bread; loaded nachos; chilli cheese garlic Maggi; Margherita pizza; penne in paprika sauce; Mexican rice bowl; sizzling brownie; and cookie ice cream sandwich.
