StPatricksDayMainTo mark St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on Thursday, March 17, The Irish House chain of pubs has organised a two-day celebration at the High Street Phoenix mall complex in Lower Parel. The world over, St. Patty’s Day is an excuse to get inebriated and the same will be true of the St. Patrick’s Day Carnival, which will be held on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13. To facilitate the revelry, the Lower Parel outlet of The Irish House will run a bar at the High Street Phoenix courtyard, serving domestic and international beers including Guinness, Corona and Hoegaarden. During the carnival, at which Jameson whisky will also have a bar, you can pair your booze with bites such as ‘loaded’ fries, nachos and tacos, fish and chips, burgers and mac ‘n’ cheese that will be catered by The Irish House in the courtyard.

Across the two days, you can partake in games such as giant Jenga and hurling; sign up for a burger eating challenge; and shop at a farmers’ market where you can buy items such as Dubliner cheese by Kerrygold, Sweetish House Mafia cookies and homemade dips and sauces by the Saucery. The festivities will include a host of performances. On Saturday, watch a drum circle led by Taal Inc at 5.30pm; catch bartender Ami Shroff flair tending at 7pm; and see percussionist Jonqui and DJ Gavin jamming at 8pm. On Sunday, join in the St. Patrick’s Day street parade at 5.30pm and stay back to watch pop-rock cover band The Other People at 8pm.

In between bar and activity hopping, you can get a foot massage. The masseurs are visually challenged and trained at The Victoria Memorial School For The Blind. The Irish House will also conduct a Fly To Ireland contest, through which one lucky winner will score two Etihad Airways return tickets to Dublin. For a chance to win, you must post a picture of yourself on Instagram partying at any outlet of The Irish House in Mumbai or Pune this weekend. While posting the picture, complete the caption ‘Fly me to Ireland because …’, tag @theirish_house and @etihadairways and use the hashtag #Irish4ADay. The winner will be announced at the carnival on Sunday, March 13.

The St. Patrick’s Day Carnival will take place from noon to 10pm on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 at High Street Phoenix, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel. Get directions here.
