• A new outpost of The Belgian Waffle Co. opened in Chowpatty last week. While the four-month-old brand has kiosks at Inox mall in Nariman Point, Inorbit mall Malad and R City mall Ghatkopar, this is their first stand-alone store. The menu, which lists Nutella; blueberry cheesecake; cinnamon and apple; peanut butter and jelly; butter and honey; maple butter and Belgian chocolate waffles, is the same across all the branches. • Andheri is slated to get a new microbrewery called The Pump Room Beer Factory next week. The brewpub, which is unrelated to the Singapore bar of the same name, is the first hospitality venture for Mumbai-based businessman Sanjay Lohia. The 5,000 square feet venue has an in-house brewing rig, which will be used to serve up two wheat beers, a pale ale and a stout. The food menu will feature Continental and Indian grub such as pizza, burgers, pastas and assorted tikkas, which will be served as plated meals with dal and rotis. The price of a pint of their house brews will be Rs200 or less, Lohia said. Open daily, from noon to 1.30am. • The Baker’s Dozen chain of bakeries has a new outpost in Powai, its sixth in the city. Along with their standard selection of breads including the four grain, sourdough with walnuts and raisins, and oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins, this store will also retail pastries, dips and jams. • Kala Ghoda is now home to the fourth outlet of Loco Chino, a quick service chain that serves Chinese and Mexican fast food. The menu, which is the same across branches, lists gyoza, baked puffs, quesadillas, burrito wraps, burrito bowls, dim sums, nachos, khow suey, pad thai and enchiladas. • Uba Tuba, a 35-seater Mexican grill room, is slated to open in Bandra next week. The focus of the restaurant will be locally-sourced produce, which will be used to prepare its menu of burritos, tacos, quesadillas and tortas made with chicken, mutton, fish and buffalo meat. The all-day casual-dining restaurant will also have a salad bar and serve cold-pressed juices such as strawberry with watermelon and mint; and apple, carrot and ginger.
