Look out for Sweetish House Mafia’s Nano at the festival.
Within a fortnight, Mumbai has lost and gained a food truck festival. The Mumbai Food Truck Society (MFTS) was slated to host the city’s first Mumbai Food Truck Festival in Bandra, in the last weekend of May. The event has however been pushed to October due to the prediction of an early monsoon, as stated on their Facebook page. This week, the year-old The Food Truck Association (TFTA), which is unrelated to MFTS, announced that it will hold the Food Truck Square, featuring ten city food trucks at the courtyard of High Street Phoenix on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21.
Ronak Rajani, better known by his popular food-centered Instagram handle Mumbaifoodie, and Ashish Sajnani, who owns Please Don’t Tell the bar in Lower Parel, Eat Thai in Bandra and the Bombay Food Truck, are members of TFTA and the team behind Food Truck Square. They’ve roped in Food on the Go, which serves pao sandwiches with fillings such as kheema, salami and Nutella; Avni & Myra’s Kitchen, which specialises in breakfast shakes, smoothies and healthy juices; sandwich, taco and falafel maker Yummy Wheels; cookie seller Sweetish House Mafia; ice cream van Snow Birds; and world cuisine purveyor Supper Hero’s for the event. Sajnani’s Bombay Food Truck, which offers comfort snacks such as hot dogs, fries and sandwiches, will be among the participating trucks. Only cash will be accepted at the event. The prices of the dishes will range from Rs100 to Rs200.
Food Truck Square is slated to take place on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, from noon to 10pm. Entry is free via registration here. See the Facebook event page for more information. Get directions here.
