• AnnCensored, a fusion Indian restaurant and bar helmed by restaurateurs Vivek Bhargava and Rahul Bhambri, is slated to open in Lower Parel’s Kamala Mills Compound on Thursday, May 19. ‘Ann’ is Sanskrit for food and at the restaurant, customers can choose between an ‘AnnCensored’ menu, which features fusion fare such as Madras special meatball curry with parmesan; mutton shank berry pulao; duck leg and aloo korma; and baked macaroni with butter chicken masala; and a ‘Censored’ one, which lists “progressive world cuisine” such as pork, mango and melon salad; miso and soy glazed lamb chops; and fennel and honey glazed duck leg. The bar will serve rum-based tiki cocktails as well as a number of signature tipples including Gringo (Tequila, grapefruit juice and beetroot masala); Arthur’s Seat (Scotch, elderflower, orange juice and Earl Grey tea); and Pulserate (fresh mangoes, ginger, vodka). • Bandra has got a new bakery and patisserie called Spring Street, which serves pies, sweet breads, quiches, brownies, gourmet cupcakes and cakes. The selection includes Nutella overload cupcake; double fudge chocolate brownie; coconut, walnut and chocolate pie; peanut butter cookie; pumpkin pie; feta, spinach and mushroom quiche; zucchini bread with lemon glaze; cinnamon swirl pound cake; and banana cream pie. • On Sunday, May 22, the second outpost of Mahim bao sandwich takeaway and delivery joint Foodarto will open in Bandra West where it will have a ten-seat set-up. The menu lists baos stuffed with BBQ chicken; tofu in green Thai sauce; eggs with cocktail sauce; fried fish with tartare sauce; and pork belly with ponzu sauce. You can pair these with healthy juices such as Energize (apple, carrot and beetroot); Defend (spinach, pineapple and pear); and Boost (milk, banana, almonds and dates). • A sandwich delivery joint called Pao and Bao opened in Lower Parel last month. • Colaba restaurant Piccadilly, which closed in October for renovations, has reopened as Persepolis. In this new avatar, in addition to their popular Irani kebabs and Lebanese fare, they serve pastas and sizzlers.
