New Restaurants And Bars: Fable, Jeon, Ruka in Juhu, 145 In Kala Ghoda

Fable.

Fable, a book-themed multi-cuisine restaurant, has opened in Juhu. The 75-seat cafe serves breakfast daily from 8.30am to 7pm. You can choose from eggs Florentine; masala bhurji; scrambled egg and cheddar bagel; Goa chilli sausage bun; and baked yoghurt. The lunch and dinner offerings include methi thepla quesadillas; Malvani crispy calamari; prawns agli olio; chilli chorizo; mushroom and brie burger; fish burger with wasabi mayonnaise; mac ‘n’ cheese; Maggi Bolognese; lobster balchao with pao; five cheese pizza; pepperoni pizza; Cajun chicken pizza; jasmine tea creme brûlée; and molten lava cake. • Cheval, the European restaurant in Kala Ghoda, which shuttered in September, will be replaced by 145, a bar and cafe on Monday, December 21. The restaurant, helmed by the folks behind Kala Ghoda nightclub Liv, will serve a ‘fusion comfort food’ menu made up of dishes such as pao bhaji cones; naan tacos; raan bao; Kurkure bhel; and Nutella cookie pizza. • Bahraini export Ruka, a Japanese fine dining restaurant, will open inside the Ramee Guestline Hotel in Juhu on Thursday, December 17. According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, Ruka, which was launched at the Ramee Grand Hotel in Bahrain last year, will serve a menu with items such as lobster sashimi; carrot cake with chilli oil and fried garlic; salmon teriyaki; Chilean sea bass; and prawn tempura with bonito flakes. • The District Lounge bar is slated to open inside The Shalimar Hotel in Kemps Corner on Tuesday, December 29. The 1,500 square feet venue, which has replaced the bar Smooth, will be managed by the folks behind Kala Ghoda nightclub Liv. At the District Lounge, you can expect Indian bar snacks such as baked kheema pav; butter chicken stuffed naan; paneer tikka in papad cones; and coin-sized parathas. • Hotel Sea Princess in Juhu has launched a 24-hour multi-cuisine coffee shop called Jeon. Their all-day menu has sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, pastas, tikkas, kebabs and risotto. Pick from the three cheese lamb burger; caramelised onion and feta pizza; double cheese Margherita pizza; spaghetti Bolognese; lamb ravioli; harissa crusted basa; Moroccan roast chicken; tandoori pomfret; prawns tikka; apple pie; and stuffed gulab jamun. • A vegetarian multi-cuisine restaurant called Rustico that serves Indian, Italian, Chinese and American fare has opened in Fort. At the all-day 186-seat establishment, with indoor and al fresco dining areas, the choices include hummus with pita; kung pao tofu; galouti kebab; tandoori broccoli; pav bhaji fondue; beetroot burger with chipotle mayonnaise; pesto, cheese and corn naanza (naan pizza); dum aloo; dal tadka; green Thai curry; nasi goreng; cheese kulcha; caramel custard; and chocolate wonton with condensed milk foam. Old Wild West, a Mexican diner, has opened inside the Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel. A mechanical rodeo bull is the centrepiece of the 120-seat restaurant and bar that serves Tex-Mex grub. The menu lists smoked chicken wings; buff nachos; Southwest chicken tacos; buff fajitas; veg burritos; BBQ pork panini; buttermilk onion rings; tres leches; and classic American cheesecake. The bar menu focuses on margaritas; the selection features grapefruit, mint julep, strawberry and basil and pomegranate flavours. Open daily, from noon to 12.30am.
