For episode 21 of their podcast, the trio of tipplers Karan Agarwal, Siddhant Mehta and Suyash Barve visited Irla dive bar Harish Lunch Home with guests, Houston-based petroleum engineer and superbike enthusiast Shilpesh Goregaonkar and fellow podcaster Mae Thomas. Here are five things we learned from the episode:

1. Irla is best known as the address of the Alfa group of shops.

2. Harish Lunch Home is a good entry-level dive bar because it’s relatively posh as far as dive bars go: air-conditioned, frequented by families, clean and relatively female-friendly.

3. It is among the rare dives that serves cocktails (but they’re not very good).

4. Among its signature snacks is the stuffed bombil, a not-so-great twist on fried Bombay Duck with the usual prawn filling plus mushroom.

5. The other seafood items – squid Mangalorean, prawns Koliwada and seafood pulimunchi – are fantastic.

Harish Lunch Home, Shop No.115, S. V. Road, near Alpha Shopping Center, Prem Nagar, Irla, Vile Parle (West). Tel: 022 3015 1814. Open daily, from noon to 12.30am. Get directions here.
