To mark Valentine’s Day, on Sunday, February 14, Foodhall, the gourmet food store at Palladium mall in Lower Parel, is hosting a wine and cheese festival throughout this month. During the festival, the store will retail various flavours of cream cheese such as blue cheese and bacon; spicy salami; fresh dill and feta; chèvre and caramelised onion; and roasted garlic and parsley cream cheese, that you can sample at the cold cuts counter along with the meats. You can also shop for newly-launched marinated cheeses and ricotta-based spreads. The selection includes sundried tomato and basil bocconcini; feta marinated with olives with fresh herbs; honey and walnut ricotta; za’atar and chilli oil ricotta; and basil and lemon ricotta.
The cheeses can be paired with a number of breads. Among the options are sundried tomato and feta baguettes; olive and cheese rolls; chilli cheese croissants; za’atar and cheese pita bread; and cheddar scones. Flatbreads in flavours like caramelised onion, fig and Gorgonzola; peach, arugula and Gouda; and sweet potato and brie will be prepared at the demo counter and will be available for visitors to sample.
You can try more cheeses at the sandwich counter at which grilled cheese; caramelised onion, basil pesto and chèvre; gouda and smoked chicken; and roasted mushroom, rosemary and Gruyere sandwiches will be sold. All the cheeses can be partnered with wines from labels such as Sula, Charosa, Mokssh, Yellow Tail, Ren and Jacob’s Creek, which are sold at Foodhall. On Friday, February 12, from 6pm, the store will host a wine and cheese tasting conducted by Craig W. Wedge, the brand director of Fratelli Wines.
